July 4th is right around the corner, and I am SO excited! It really is one of my favorite holidays. This year, we will likely be spending the day on our boat and seeing the fireworks show that evening on the lake here in East TN. That means: I’ll need to pack some fun treats that transport easily with us, are kid-friendly and are also delicious. These patriotic marshmallow pops are the perfect treat for July 4th!

Can patriotic marshmallow pops be made ahead of time?

If you’d rather make the patriotic marshmallow pops ahead of time, that’s completely fine! Be sure to keep them in an air tight container to retain their freshness!

How long do marshmallow pops last?

They can get stale quicker than some other snack recipes, so I would suggest keeping them in an air tight container for no more than 3 days.

Can you freeze marshmallow pops?

It’s actually best to store marshmallow pops at room temperature for a few days. Not to worry though, since this is such an easy and quick recipe it’s actually worth it to make a new batch the next time you want some instead of trying to save a batch for a longer period of time.

The best part about these patriotic marshmallow pops? They are ONLY 4 steps!

Patriotic Marshmallow Pops

Patriotic Marshmallow Pops, the perfect treat for July 4th, Memorial Day or just a hot summer afternoon! Your kids will love making these and everyone will love eating them!

Ingredients

  • 35 Large Marshmallows
  • 2 Wafers Candy Melt Bars in Red & Blue
  • 2 Wafers Vanilla-Flavored Almond Bark
  • 1 Cup Patriotic Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Press marshmallows onto stick or straw, using a twisting motion.

  2. Melt the candy melts in the microwave according to package directions giving special care not to overheat the candy. If the candy is overheated, it will be too thick. You can add 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to help thin the chocolate but do not add any other type of liquid as the candy will seize and harden.

  3. Transfer melted candy to a piping bag or zip-top freezer bag. Snip the corner of the bag and drizzle melted candy over the marshmallows. Allow each color to set before adding a new color.

  4. Repeat piping the candy melts over the marshmallows until all three colors are applied: red, blue, and white. Immediately after applying the last color (white is recommended) and before it sets, top with patriotic sprinkles.

  5. Allow the marshmallows to rest on waxed paper until set before packaging or serving.

  6. Press four marshmallows onto a straw or treat stick with a twisting motion. Lay on waxed paper.

Another one of the great marshmallow pops ideas is having dipped marshmallows on a stick. You would do this by dipping the marshmallows into melted chocolate first, then you can drizzle and decorate them after. Dipped marshmallow pops are an extra sweet way to welcome in the summer holidays!
