6 Things You Need to Know About Visiting Disney World in 2022
Last Updated on January 22, 2024 by Allison Lancaster
While 2021 was certainly a busy year for Disney as it celebrated its 50th anniversary, 2022 is also set to be an exciting year as well. Disney is planning on opening a couple of exciting new rides, a Star Wars interactive hotel experience, and many other awesome perks. Here are 6 things you need to know about when you’re visiting Disney World in 2022.
1. Amazon Echo Devices “Hey Disney”
Disney resort guests will have the option to have an Amazon Echo Device in their room starting in 2022. This will provide you with a voice assistant that can help you set alarms and timers, check the weather, hear jokes from various Disney characters, and order certain room amenities.
2. New Magic Bands
In 2022, Disney is introducing a new interactive magic band that comes with cool new features! The magic band+ will come with gesture recognition, haptic vibrations, and lights that change color while syncing to their fireworks show. At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll be able to use them as if you’re a real bounty hunter and also interact with Disney’s 50th-anniversary statues.
3. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Wind
Attention all Guardians of the Galaxy fans! Coming to Epcot sometime in 2022 is the new Guardians of the Galaxy indoor roller coaster ride. As the ride’s storyline progresses, riders will be amazed that their vehicle is able to rotate at a complete 360 degrees. This coaster will also be the first-ever reverse launch ride at Disney, as well as one of the longest enclosed coasters in the world!
4. Moana-Journey of Water
This latest attraction as of yet still does not have a launch date, but you can expect to visit Moana-Journey of Water at some point in 2022. This ride is also going to be found at Epcot, which just so happens to be celebrating its 40th anniversary. Based on the magical Walt Disney film, Journey of Water will allow guests to interact with this magical water in a fun and beautiful setting.
5. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
On March 1st, 2022, Star Wars fans will be thrilled and more than excited for their chance to stay at the Galactic Starcruiser, a Star Wars hotel that offers their visitors a 2-night interactive stay that’s entirely out of this world. Although it’s considerably pricey to stay there, the cost covers admission into Hollywood Studios, a quick service meal in the theme park, an exclusive MagicBand, valet parking, as well as food and drink.
6. Mears Connect
While Disney may have parted ways with their Magical Express airport transportation services, they’ve turned to Mears Connect, which is actually owned by the same company. It’s a paid transportation service that will take you back and forth from the Orlando International Airport to Disney.
Are you thinking about visiting Disney at some point in 2022? If so, you can be sure that your family will have an absolutely fabulous time with all of the new updates this year. Make your trip even more memorable by going with one of Disney’s travel advisors, a free service that they provide to make your vacation even better.
