Call it Chex Mix, Party Mix, Snack Mix, etc. Whatever you call it…one thing is for sure, it’s delicious! This is my party mix recipe and one of my all time favorite snacks. The perfect snack for Game Day, road trips, or as a snack any time of year!

Large glass dish full of party mix.

We all have those recipes that, when we smell them baking, take us back to our childhood or a special time in our lives. My mom’s party mix is one of those recipes.

I remember her making it around the holiday gatherings as we were growing up, and now that we’re adults, my mom still makes her party mix for us and always makes sure that I have some to bring home with me.

This delicious party mix combines your favorite flavors and is the absolute perfect combination of salty and sweet. Whether you’re looking for an appetizer for the holidays or a snack that the entire family will love, Mom’s Party Mix is sure to be a favorite for years to come!

Party Mix Recipe Ingredients & Substitutions:

Cereal – I’ve used a combination of Crispix cereal, Corn Chex cereal, and Honey Nut Cheerios. Mix and match these cereals as you prefer. Gluten-free cereals can be used instead.

Pretzel Rods – Plain or lightly salted. You can also use the square pretzels or any flavor you want!

Cheese Its Crackers – Use any of your favorite crackers instead. Gluten-free crackers, bagel chips, tortilla chips, and rye chips are also delicious!

Cashews – These are a great option when catering to peanut allergies like we have in our family. If allergies aren’t an issue, feel free to use peanuts instead or mixed nuts.

Stick of butter – Unsalted and melted. If you use salted butter, reduce or omit the salt listed below.

Worcestershire Sauce – This adds a delicious tangy bite and balance to the sweet cereal.

Garlic Salt – Garlic powder can be used instead.

Onion Powder– This is important and adds a delicious flavor to the party mix!

Salt – Seasoned salt or regular salt

You can also add in things such as honey nut cereal, chocolate candies, etc. to make your party mix your own!

How To Make This Party Mix

  • Preheat your oven.
  • Mix your melted unsalted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, onion powder, and seasoning salt together in a large bowl. Set aside
  • Add all cereals, cheese crackers, nuts, and pretzels to a large roasting pan or cookie sheet.
  • Drizzle the melted butter mixture over top of the cereal mixture.
  • Mix well, but be careful not to break up the cereal (be sure to mix really well in the bottom of the prepared baking sheet!)
  • Bake at 200 for 15 minutes, remove from the oven and stir again.
  • Bake at 200 for 2 more 15-minute intervals, stirring between each interval.
  • Turn off the oven and leave the salty snack mix in oven while it cools.
  • Enjoy!

Serve

I like to warm my party mix up before serving. You can put your oven on the lowest setting and add the baking pan back to the oven for 10 minutes or so to warm before serving.

You can also just add a bowl to the microwave for about 30 seconds before indulging!

This goes deliciously with soup as well, a soup such as my sausage and potato soup would be perfect paired with this Party Mix!

How To Store Party Mix

I let mine cool then cover the pan with foil. You can leave it on the counter or if you want it to last longer, put the mix into Ziploc bags to stay fresher longer.

Ours doesn’t last more than a few days (it’s just THAT good), but you can make this ahead and store in bags for upcoming holidays or events. I wouldn’t make it any more than 3 days in advance though!
