Recently, mom and I took baby Rebecca on her first beach trip! This was one special trip for so many reasons. First, back in June, when our baby girl was born…we weren’t sure what would happen after her NICU stay and diagnosis. Second, it’s been a tradition for years now that my mom and I take a girls’ trip at least once a year. Years ago, before she passed away- one of my all time favorite trips was a girls’ trip we took with my Mamaw to the beach. We happened to be traveling when there was a hurricane in the forecast, but that wasn’t going to stop us! We took in each minute of the trip and I can still remember lounging in the pool, wind whirling and clouds rolling in…while my Mamaw stood on the balcony above us yelling “there’s a hurricane a comin’!” That is truly one of my all time favorite memories of my Mamaw and I am so excited to create lifelong memories with Rebecca. Our trip to Jekyll Ocean Club in Jekyll Island, Georgia set the bar high for future girls’ beach trips!

Getting There:

The drive from East TN to Jekyll Island is around 7 hours. Of course, with an infant that took us a bit longer. We took our time and stopped multiple times. The drive really isn’t a bad or difficult drive at all! Without an infant in tow, I’m sure we could have made it in around 7.5 hours. Once you reach the island, you have to pay to get on the island. I LOVE this feature! It not only makes you feel more secure, but it keeps the island feeling like a real ‘beach town’ without a ton of traffic just cruising through.

The Resort:

Situated right on the beach and very close the cutest shops on the island, Jekyll Ocean Club is in the perfect location for a girls’ trip! You can walk to the shops, down on the beach or to Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar for dinner right in the resort. The staff is so friendly and parking is a breeze. With only 3 floors in the all-suite resort, you truly feel like a VIP. The resort is so clean (a huge plus to this momma!) and easy to navigate. The pool is to die for!

The Room

I really cannot say enough about the amazing suite that we stayed in. The best part? If you stay at Jekyll Ocean Club, you too get your own suite! The rooms are SO spacious that I could really imagine spending an entire week with our family in the suite (this does not happen often at a hotel or resort, the rooms are usually too small…not at Jekyll Ocean Club!). I’ll admit: we took a few naps in the comfy beds and ordered room service more than once. What’s a girls’ trip without room service and some R&R?

The suite even offers a beautiful sitting area that looks out onto your oceanfront balcony! kHeFpiGRCg8eL8l89Zhg

Can we talk about the bathroom? The walk in shower is HUGE and there was more than enough sink space for us girls’! szTn77pcR8qiBJRKL3wPKw

The room also boasts a TON of closet and storage space, as well as a sink area in the pass through from the bedroom to the sitting area. This was so nice! If you’re traveling with an infant, you know how much extra ‘stuff’ it takes and how nice it is to have extra counter/sink/storage space! Vcjl2dN2S4ODY8fIDnWuVA

The view from the balcony was amazing! As you can see, you have a beautiful view of the boardwalk at Jekyll Island that if you would like, you can rent bikes and ride around the island (this is on my agenda for our next trip!). Relaxing and taking in the sunset was on my agenda this time and boy, did I get to do that!

The Food

Can I share a secret? We ordered room service for every.single.meal. With an infant, it was just too much to try to dine out somewhere. The first night, we thought, well…let’s test room service. We were NOT disappointed! The breakfast was delicious both mornings and the other meals were equally as decadent. I highly recommend the crab cakes and key lime tart!

The Beach

When we travel for a girls’ trip, we look for two things: relaxation and good food. As you can see above, we checked off the good food box at Jekyll Ocean Club. Relaxation? Well, the beach checked that box all the way for me! Not only was I able to get to witness my baby girl put her feet in the ocean for the first time (she loved it!), take her first nap on the beach and make some of the most precious memories with my mom & baby girl…I was able to relax on the beach. After the last few months, I needed that SO bad!

What’s The Verdict On Jekyll Ocean Club?

I am SO in love with this place, I cannot wait to take Josh and Levi back to it! We created some amazing memories at one of the most beautiful places on earth! The accommodations were five star without being pretentious, the food was decadent and delivered (yay!), and the location is one of a kind! I highly recommend Jekyll Ocean Club!
