We were one of the (if not the) first families to stay at the 2 Bedroom Penthouse Villa at the Polynesian Island Tower!
While visiting Walt Disney World Resort for our annual Christmas break trip, we decided we wanted to extend our vacation by a day or two. I logged into our DVC portal to see what last minute reservations were available. Imagine my surprise when I saw the 2 Br. Penthouse Suite at the Polynesian Island Tower available. I snagged it right away!
The tower itself opened officially on December 17, 2024, we stayed at the Penthouse Villa on December 18, 2024. I can’t say for sure we were the first family to stay in the villa but we were definitely one of THE first ones.
This was really cool for us because over the last months, each time we visit, we’ve gotten to see more and more progress being completed on the tower itself.
Overall First Impressions of the 2 Bedroom Penthouse Villa at the Polynesian Island Tower
I personally have been blessed to stay in a variety of luxurious rooms across Disney property. Including the Grand Suite at the Grand Floridian and the Copper Creek Cabins at Wilderness Lodge. I knew that this villa had high standards to meet after staying in the aforementioned rooms. I honestly was not sure what to expect from this stay. We had previously stayed in the Polynesian Resort several months prior and we were underwhelmed to say the least.
I’ll talk more about our overall experience at the Island Tower in a separate post soon but I will say that I am highly impressed with the tower itself. While I love staying on property when visiting Disney World, sometimes it can get exhausting especially during busy seasons like December. The tower is a nice mix of both…very close to the action but without all of the foot traffic that you have in resorts like the Grand Floridian. I am curious to see how busy the resort is as it stays open longer and if they relax the requirements of having to use your Magic Band to go past the first floor.
I also really enjoyed the decor of the penthouse. It is very clean, lightly Moana themed but still cozy in a way. The patio (more on that below) has cozy furniture that you can lounge on for hours and enjoy the beautiful views.

Below you’ll find a video tour of the Penthouse. I’ll outline the specifics for you as well and what stood out most to our family. For reference, 4 of us stayed in the villa (2 adults, 2 children) but this villa could easily house many more comfortably. It would have plenty of room for everyone, but still enough privacy, if my parents were traveling with us and we all wanted to stay in one villa together.
Penthouse Villa at Disney World’s Polynesian Island Tower Bathrooms
The 2 bedroom penthouse theme park view villa boasts 3 bathrooms. I loved that there was a bathroom right off of the kitchen area in case some family was lounging in the living area while others were asleep in the bedrooms. This is a nice feature especially if you are staying for awhile.
Penthouse Villa at Disney World’s Polynesian Island Tower Bedrooms
2 bedrooms may not sound like a lot if you’re traveling with a large group but trust me…there is plenty of room to sleep. The ‘main’ bedroom has a king size bed and my favorite feature? A TON of storage. The entire villa has storage everywhere. The second bedroom has 2 queen sized beds and there is a murphy bed in the living area.
Living, Dining and Kitchen Area
You truly do not have to leave the villa if you don’t want to. With everything from a full sized fridge to washer and dryer to a large dining table…the villa has all of the comforts of home and is spacious enough for 8 guests. I personally think that 4 adults and 2-3 children would be the max comfortable guest count.
The living area boasts a large double sided television as well as comfortable seating for relaxing.
Theme Park View Patios
The Penthouse has 3 theme park view patios. I think this is my favorite feature about the villa. I firmly believe these are the best resort views at Disney World. On a clear afternoon, we were able to see everything from Disney Springs to Magic Kingdom (of course) to Epcot. You also have great views of the lagoon & the Island Tower Pool. It’s the perfect, quiet, place to relax after a long day in the busy parks. Each bedroom also has its own private patio as well as the main patio off of the living/dining area.
In my opinion, this is also one of the best views on property of Magic Kingdom fireworks. You can also see Epcot fireworks from the balcony for a double win!
Pro Tip: If you are traveling with young children and they will be staying in the second bedroom, I would suggest carrying a door alarm with you just so they don’t sneak out during the early morning. (I’m a bit paranoid haha). The doors do have locks up high but our 6 year old could easily reach them.
