Finding Disney Resorts that accommodate a larger family can be a challenge if you aren’t familiar with the different Disney properties or don’t have the time to do extensive research while trying to make bookings without the assistance of a travel agent. 

In addition to this, each resort offers different themes, dining options, and recreation activities, all of which can impact whether it’s suitable to your needs and preferences. 

Today, I’m going to take all of the hard work from you and carefully list the different types of Disney Resorts with Family Suites available at different levels of affordability.

Disney Value Resorts with Suites

Disney Value Resorts are a great option for budget-friendly accommodation that offers fun and colorful themed suites for families of 6 or fewer. If your family is larger than 6 people, you may want to consider other Disney World suites as the value resorts can be compact.

These resorts provide pools, dining areas, and entertainment or activities for the kids. Complimentary transportation to the theme parks is another perk.

While the accommodation at these value resorts doesn’t provide extra frills, it’s certainly the cheapest option for Walt Disney World hotels. 

There are two Disney hotels within this Value category, which will be detailed further below. These include:

• Disney’s All-Star Music Resort 
• Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

All Star Music Resort

The All Stars Resort has three hotels on its property, one offering family accommodation, which is the All Star Music Resort.

This resort is designed in the shape of a guitar and offers family suites with musical themes! 

One of the biggest perks of this resort is that guests staying at the All Star Music Resort also have access to the other two hotels on the property.

The downside is that this resort sees a lot of school group bookings due to its affordability, so you will need to keep this in mind when planning dates.

• Accommodates: Up to 6 people.
• Includes: Themed pools and recreation areas, family-friendly dining options, musical entertainment, and activities for the kids (movies under the lights, s’mores kits by the campfire, arcade, guitar hero in the lobby).
• Suite features: A kitchenette for eating in or warming up leftovers (includes a mini refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker), master bedroom with a queen-sized bed, living area with a double-size sleeper sofa, two bathrooms, and two flat-panel TVs. 
• Pricing: From $310 per night per suite.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is located at Walt Disney World in Florida and offers suites with delightful rooms that are inspired in decoration by movies such as the Lion King, Cars, Finding Nemo, and The Little Mermaid. 

A great perk of this resort is that it’s on the Walt Disney World property, giving you access to one of the best pools – the Big Blue Pool. It also offers amazing transportation, such as the Disney Skyliner, which runs to a few Disney World hotels and transports guests to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow)!

• Accommodates: Up to 6 people.
• Includes: Multiple pools, including the Big Blue Pool inspired by Finding Nemo, kids’ play areas and interactive experiences, dining options including a food court, and themed dining experiences. recreation areas, family-friendly dining options, musical entertainment, and activities for the kids (movies under the lights, s’mores kits by the campfire, arcade, Guitar Hero in the lobby).
• Suite features: A kitchenette for eating in or warming up leftovers (includes a mini refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker), a master bedroom and other separate sleeping areas, three bathrooms, and two flat-panel TVs. 
• Pricing: From $442 per night per suite.

Disney Moderate Resorts with Suites

Disney’s Moderate Resorts with Suites provides a category of family accommodation a level above the Value category. There are only two hotels with family suites in this category, being:

• The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort 
• Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

You’ll get to enjoy larger suites with more amenities and updated decor. Be prepared to do a lot of walking at these resorts as they are some of the largest resorts.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground has an American frontier theme which is ideal for families that love the outdoors. 

The resort is extensive with wildlife and many outdoor activities that the whole family will love. If you book 60 days before traveling, you could also secure a gold cart to navigate around the property. This resort is usually 85% full capacity, so it’s best to plan ahead to get a good spot!

• Accommodates: Up to 6 people in the cabins.
• Includes: Multiple pools, wildlife, archery, horseback, canoeing, and golf cart hire.
• Suite features: Air conditioning, TVs, a master bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunk beds, a living room with a Murphy bed, a full kitchen fridge, microwave, and dishwasher) and a deck with an outdoor grill.
• Pricing: From $429 per night per cabin.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has a Spanish and Mexican influence in decor, providing suits in the Casitas area, as well as the Gran Destino Tower. This resort has less of a Disney vibe, but is very affordable, is closer to the Animal Kingdom, and is better value than the All-Stars Resorts. 

This resort is ideal for those who love the nightlife with the popular Three Bridges Bar & Grill or Toledo, situated on the floating Villa del Lago in the center of the Lago Dorado lake. This is definitely a resort you’ll want to check out when booking for a family with older children or when traveling with adults. 

• Accommodates: Up to 6 people. 
• Includes: A themed main pool, an arcade, and lots of convention space.
• Suite features: Here you have the option of choosing between Junior suites, One-bedroom suites, and Executive Suites, all of which sleep up to six.
• Pricing: From $645 per night.

Disney Deluxe Resorts

Disney’s Deluxe Resorts are the most costly of the three categories but provide the best amenities, recreation options, and service. These resorts also have prime locations and superior transportation available to guests.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is great as a deluxe option for families with some of the best suites overlooking a savanna with live animals! Guests also have the option to sight-see various animals.

• Accommodates: Up to 8 people. 
• Includes: Multiple pools with water slides, children’s wading pools, spas, a huge playground, and animal sightseeing opportunities!

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Disney’s Beach Club Resort is perfect for those who want to be close to the EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. This beachside-themed resort even has fresh air circulated inside with the scent of ocean breeze!

This resort is also connected to the Yacht Club Resort, allowing guests the freedom to access all dining and recreation options shared between the resorts. 

• Accommodates: Up to 6 people. 
• Pricing: From $974 per night.

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is located between EPCOT and the Hollywood Studios, in the heart of Walt Disney World, and offers luxury and convenience. It boasts carnival-style games, food and drinks stands, as well as Jellyrolls piano bar.

• Accommodates: Up to 8 people. 
• Includes: Close proximity to Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve Resorts, dining and entertainment options shared among these resorts. 
• Pricing: From $1946 per night.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is the original monorail hotel and still claims to be one of the most popular Disney hotels. Newer rooms within the hotel have been themed after The Incredibles, which is fun for kids. 

This resort offers convenience with it being located on the monorail line. It’s also in walking distance of the Magic Kingdom – ideal for families with small kids.

• Accommodates: Up to 8 people. 
• Pricing: From $1400 per night.

Disney’s Grand Floridian

The Grand Floridian Resort is also known as the flagship hotel at Walt Disney World. It boasts spacious rooms with first-class amenities. 

This resort is located on the monorail line directly beside the Magic Kingdom park. 

• Accommodates: Up to 8 people. 
• Pricing: From $1635 per night.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney’s Polynesian Village is great if you need extra space, offering some of the largest suites of all the Deluxe resorts. 

This hotel is also located on the monorail line and in close proximity to the Magic Kingdom theme park. This resort provides a tropical escape with beautiful lush vegetation and Polynesian-inspired dining. Consider watching the fireworks from the beaches at the resort on one of the evenings with music played on the beach – it’s an amazing experience!

• Accommodates: Up to 9 people. 
• Pricing: From $1521 per night.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is great when it comes to design and restaurants, even though the rooms aren’t as big as some of the other resorts. It also offers a huge grounds with many activities for large families. 

This resort is inspired by National Park lodges, with nature trails, pine forests, and rocking chairs.

• Accommodates: Up to 6 people. 
• Pricing: From $918 per night.

Disney Vacation Club

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is a vacation ownership program or timeshare that can be a cost-effective way of taking Disney vacations, especially if you do so on a regular basis. Suite rentals can be arranged through a DVC owner or directly through Disney or a travel agent. 

The Deluxe Villa Resorts fall under the DVC, allowing owners to have priority when booking rooms, although there’s almost always availability at the Deluxe Villa Resorts for the general public.

Tips and Tricks

• Plan ahead of time to book in advance to ensure that you get the travel dates you want and possible discounts on offer. 
• Ask the hotel or resort beforehand if they have cribs or roll-away beds if you think you’ll need these. 
• You can buy DVC points off the second market as an alternative to booking directly through Disney. 
• Consider the Disney transportation options when deciding on your accommodation, or whether recreational activities for the family at neighboring resorts or parks are within easy walking distance, especially if you have young children. 
• Take advantage of cheaper rates by booking off-season.
