Why You’ll Love This Loaded French Fries With Bacon Recipe

Loaded French Fries are the perfect balance of crispy, savory, and creamy. The fries serve as a great base, while the melted cheese and bacon add layers of indulgent flavor. And let’s not forget the tangy sour cream and fresh green onions that bring it all together. Trust me, these fries are going to disappear fast!

Flat lay shot of the ingredients needed to make the Loaded French Fries With Bacon. Ingredients include frozen fries in a large glass bowl, cooked bacon bits, shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, salt and pepper, all on a white surface.

Frozen French fries: This is the foundation of this dish! Frozen fries save time and ensure consistency. Look for crinkle-cut or thick-cut fries for extra crunch. You can find them in the frozen aisle of any grocery store, I grab mine at the nearest Aldi.

Shredded cheddar cheese: Cheddar’s sharpness pairs beautifully with the salty bacon and creamy sour cream. Pre-shredded cheese is convenient, but if you have a bit of time, shredding your own makes this snack better!

Bacon: Bacon adds that smoky, salty goodness. I love Appleton Farms’ Premium Sliced Bacon!

Green onions: These add a fresh, slightly tangy crunch. Check the produce section for vibrant green stalks.

Sour cream: This creamy, tangy topping ties everything together. Go for full-fat sour cream for the richest flavor. It’s usually near the dairy products at the store.

What to Serve With These Loaded French Fries With Bacon

These Loaded French Fries are a versatile snack which I love to pair with a variety of my snack recipes. For a classic combination, I serve them alongside my Cheddar Bay Sausage Balls, or my Buffalo Chicken Sliders.

How to Store Loaded French Fries With Bacon

I do not recommend storing leftovers for these. Once stored in the fridge (or even after it sits in room temperature for a while), the fries tend to change in this chalky, unappetizing texture. If you can eyeball it, prepare just enough for the crowd you’re feeding to avoid leftovers.

Can I use fresh potatoes instead of frozen fries?

Absolutely! If you prefer homemade fries, cut fresh potatoes into strips, season them, and bake until crispy. Just keep in mind this adds extra prep time.

What’s the best cheese to use?

Cheddar is classic, but feel free to experiment with mozzarella, pepper jack, or even a blend of cheeses for extra flavor.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

For the best texture, prepare the fries fresh. However, you can cook the bacon and shred the cheese in advance to save time.

Are there any substitutions for sour cream?

Greek yogurt works well as a lighter, tangy alternative to sour cream.

How do I make this vegetarian?

Omit the bacon and add toppings like roasted vegetables, black beans, or jalapeños for a delicious vegetarian twist.
