Go on a Picnic

Packing up a picnic and heading to the park for the day is a great activity for both kids and grandparents. Make a basket full of healthy snacks and artisan sandwiches from the local deli, lay out a blanket, and relax together as a family. Be sure to bring along some fun activities like frisbee, croquet, or a soccer ball! After that, end the afternoon by playing on the playground, going for an easy hike, or stopping for ice cream.

Plan a Fun Brunch

Brunch is the perfect meal for preparing for Grandparents Day. There are so many sweet and savory options to choose from and most recipes are pretty simple that the kids can get involved. Prepare a festive drink, make a decadent spread of pastries, and serve classics like quiche and frittata. Whip out the family heirloom china to serve your brunch on for that extra special touch.

Have the Kids Make Handprint Gifts

Nothing says “I love you” like a handmade gift, especially for the grandparents in our lives. There’s just something special about arts and crafts made by the kids! There are lots of cute handprint gift ideas that they will cherish forever. Make handprint art on sturdy construction paper, or get even more creative and make handprint art on an apron, tote, or pillow for them.

Do Something They Love

What are their hobbies? Whether it’s fishing, bowling, or playing an instrument, your child can learn a lot from their grandparents. Have the kids spend the afternoon with their grandparents doing what they love the most. Their day will be filled with amazing memories, and the kids might even pick up a new interest themselves!

Plan Family Photos

Planning a family photo shoot is a great activity to do together that will create special memories to cherish for years to come. Contact a local photographer or have a friend take photos of your kids with the grandparents, and some full family photos too. Sit down together in the future to look through the family photo album you made together. You can relive the special Grandparents Day memories that have been captured forever!
