Delicious Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sliders
If you’ve been following my blog for any amount of time, you know that I use my crockpot often.
Slow cooker recipes are a staple in my kitchen, but I do find it easy to get into a rut with cooking the same recipes over and over.
But these delicious creamy slow cooker Buffalo chicken sliders are a family favorite you’ll want to add to your crock pot recipe rotation often!
There’s just something about slow-cooked chicken that really makes it yummy.
With ranch seasoning mix and shredded slow cooker buffalo chicken there’s nowhere you can’t serve this easy appetizer or tasty meal.
What If I Am Not a Fan of Buffalo Chicken?
You can lessen the amount of hot sauce that you are using. I would use 1/3 of a bottle or even 1/4 of a bottle of buffalo sauce if heat is an issue.
I’m not a huge fan of spicy foods so I usually decrease the amount of hot sauce that I use in this recipe.
How Do I Store These Sliders?
I store the leftover chicken in an airtight container in my fridge. You can also make the chicken ahead of time and chill it in your fridge for up to 3 days. If you don’t plan to use the slider buns for a few days you can also store them in your fridge or even freeze them.
Can You Freeze the Leftovers?
Of course! Make a big batch of this slow cooker buffalo chicken and freeze it in smaller portions so that you can pull it out and try it in all of the delicious serving variations suggested below.
After cooking, cool the buffalo chicken down to room temperature.
Make sure that you freeze your buffalo chicken in an airtight, freezer-safe container, or a plastic freezer bag with the air removed.
Sliders or sandwiches are not the only way to serve this slow-cooker buffalo chicken. You can serve it as a dip for crackers or tortilla chips during football season.
You could also use this slow cooker chicken recipe as the filling in lettuce wraps, enchiladas, burritos, baked potatoes, or sweet potatoes.
This shredded chicken would also make a fantastic topping for a buffalo chicken pizza. You could even add this spicy chicken to a salad for a zesty kick!
Serve this slow cooker buffalo chicken shredded over rice, or if you are trying to keep it low carb or keto, serve it over riced cauliflower.
Our favorite way to serve this dinner is to add a dollop of blue cheese dressing for an authentic hot wings flavor. You can also substitute blue cheese crumbles if you prefer.
Does it Matter What Kind of Hot Sauce I use?
While this slow cooker buffalo chicken recipe calls for Frank’s red hot sauce if you have a different favorite buffalo sauce use then by all means use that instead.
If you have a homemade buffalo sauce you like for hot wings you could also use that.
Can I use Powdered Ranch Dressing Mix?
You might be wondering if you can use powdered ranch dressing mix for this recipe instead of bottled ranch dressing, and the answer is yes!
You can use a powdered ranch dressing packet instead of bottled liquid ranch dressing. You can even use your own homemade ranch powder if you have a favorite recipe for it.
Can I use Sour Cream Instead of Cream Cheese?
If the only thing keeping you from making this slow-cooker buffalo chicken recipe is not having any cream cheese on hand, then try substituting it with sour cream.
They both have a similar texture, and with the buffalo sauce being the prominent flavor in this recipe, either of them should work just fine.
Can You Make This Recipe in an Instant Pot?
Yes, you can make these creamy slow-cooker buffalo chicken sliders in an instant pot if you have one. Although this recipe is quick and easy to get going in the slow cooker, using the instant pot, you can have dinner on the table in less than 30 minutes.
That’s the beauty of easy recipes, there are so many different ways to pull dinner together!
To adjust the recipe for the IP, simply add all of your ingredients to your instant pot and seal it. Set your instant pot on manual pressure for 15 minutes (it will take 5-10 minutes to come to pressure) and once the cook time is up allow the pressure to release naturally.
Once the pressure has been released open the pot and shred the chicken using a couple of forks. Spoon the chicken onto your slider buns, top with shredded cheese, and serve!
This delicious recipe makes an easy dinner that the whole family will love.
