Baby proofing is no joke. You hear a lot about it before having a baby, and some new parents take it to the extreme, putting bumpers on everything that might be a hazard in their home. We, on the other hand, decided we would baby proof closer to the time that our little one got mobile. Whoa, did that happen almost overnight! We have been scrambling the past few weeks to baby proof our home and have finally gotten to a place where we can comfortably say we are, at least partially, ‘baby proofed’.
We have found a few things that we wouldn’t have otherwise thought about when it comes to baby safety and baby proofing, so today I am sharing 3 Essentials for Baby Proofing Your Home You May Have Not Thought About.
Comfort Plus Perfect Height™ Tub. Is it just me or is bath time a little scary with a little one? When he was teeny tiny, I could handle him a little better. He didn’t wiggle quite as much. Now, that he’s older, he likes to splash and move all over the place during bath time. He is in that odd stage that he’s too big for the kitchen sink but too small to really sit in the full size bath tub by himself without sliding all over the place and making this momma a nervous wreck. The Comfort Plus Perfect Height Tub is the solution for that! Other tubs are too small for babies over 6 months, or they sit too low in the tub, making you have to bend over the entire time and if you’re like me, you end up with back pain the next day. This tub has legs that you can add to it to adjust the height so that it’s easy for you to reach your baby and a cushion that provides support for smaller babies, but that you can remove as your little one gets older. Even better? The tub accommodates toddlers up to 2 years old.
KidCo Gateway Safety Gate. We didn’t realize just how many baby gates we would need in our home. We have stairs, bedrooms, a dining room and furniture that isn’t attached to the walls. Instead of locking every single room or mounting every single piece of furniture to the wall at this point, we decided we need to section of parts of our home that are completely safe for our little one to move around in. The KidCo Gateway Safety Gate does just that. I love that it is pressure mounted and easy to install, it looks nice and it provides an easy walk-through gate for our hallway. This is nice for those evening trips to the kitchen to make a bottle, you can just lift up and walk through the gate.
OmniMount TV Wall Mount. This was probably the one thing in our home that we didn’t consider when baby proofing. However, it was the first thing that our little one ran straight for once he became mobile. Previously, our TV was sitting on a table about 3 feet off of the ground, not anchored and not safe at all for our little one. TV safety is so important with a little one around and it is really scary to think about how many children are injured or killed each year from falling TV’s. We love our OmniMount TV Wall Mount and our Tria. The wall mount holds our TV safe and secure out of our little one’s reach and the Tria hides all of those pesky cables. The Tria is also another safety feature, in my opinion. It hides cables out of sight from our little one so that he isn’t tempted to yank or even chew on them (teething baby, anyone?).
