Brrrr! It’s cold here in East Tennessee! How is the weather where you are? Not only is it cold but I have also been fighting a cold for the past few days. While I want to curl up under a blanket and just sleep until I feel better, we all know that as moms that isn’t possible. Even though we don’t have as harsh winters here in East TN as some people do, we still get a decent amount of snow and freezing temperatures each year. I always try to have certain things on hand as the cold weather approaches to ensure our family’s comfort and safety! Below are a few of my favorite items that you must have on hand during cold weather.

Zippo: Mini Flex Candle Lighter– Of course candle lighters are great to have around during the holiday season to create a certain ambiance or to add to your beautiful tablescape, but having a candle lighter on hand during cold weather (or any season) is imperative for  your family’s safety. We keep candles on hand in the event that the power goes out. Often times we get snow and ice storms which means we lose power, sometimes for hours or sometimes for a few days. Having candles on hand helps to add lighting to the house during these times and our Zippo: Mini Flex Candle Lighter makes lighting those candles in the dark easy, no more burnt finger tips!

Zoganic- We all know that we are right in the midst of cold and flu season (unfortunately our family is literally RIGHT IN THE MIDST of a cold). I try to do all that I can to keep our family well during the cold weather. My husband works outside and we have an almost 2 year old, so needless to say, we are around a lot of germs this time of year. Zoganic is a delicious vitamin supplement that is perfect to add to water (my preference) or smoothies! It helps to promote a healthy immune system, along with several other health benefits and it is one of my ‘must haves’ this time of year!

Chesapeake Bay Candle: Mind & Body Collection– I love the ambiance that candles add to our home this time of year. There is just something warm and cozy about sitting by the fire and lighting a candle. I love the Chesapeake Bay Mind & Body collection, especially during cold weather. The candles in my opinion, burn much longer than other candles I’ve had. They also are enriched with essential oils and made with soy blend wax. The scent is comforting and relaxing, but not overpowering (which is very important in our house).

Links By Lisa Becker We all know that with cold weather comes more time indoors. That means we can all go a bit stir crazy. Personally, I like to read to pass the time during cold weather. One of my favorite things to do when it’s snowing is to sit by the window and read a good book. Links by Lisa Decker is a romance novel that explores second chances, a character that many of us can relate to. It’s perfect for cold weather reading!

Stuffy Nose Strips– These are my best friend currently! I am not a huge fan of taking a ton of medicine when I’m sick, but of course it’s difficult to breathe with a stuffy nose. These strips pull open your airways by over 61% vs. 30% for traditional nasal strips! I am a believer in these strips, especially after the past few days. These are a must have during cold and flu season. You can also get 25% off if you use code: XECX9243!

I love hot tea right before bed on cold nights, it is not only relaxing but helps to keep you warm during the night. Tea Forte also has an annual collection of special holiday teas which make great holiday gifts for anyone on your list! You can enjoy 20% off of any Tea Forte order with code WJ20 – valid through 12/31/17
