Not only is it utterly delicious, but this Cinnamon Swirl Bread recipe is quick, and anyone from a beginner to an expert can make it without a problem.

Cinnamon Swirl Bread Ingredients & Substitutions:
Flour – All purpose flour is the best, but you can also use whole wheat flour or another bread flour for this homemade cinnamon bread. I love Baker’s Corner All-Purpose Flour which I can easily grab at Aldi.
Yeast – You’ll need 1 packet of rapid rise yeast to give the bread the desired fluffiness and rise.
Sugar– White sugar or brown sugar can be used to sweeten the homemade cinnamon swirl bread. You’ll also need sugar (regular or cinnamon sugar) to make the filling.
Butter – Melted butter is needed for both the bread dough and the cinnamon mixture. If you want to make your Cinnamon Swirl Bread even more irresistible, try using brown butter. Its flavor and color adds more depth to this already delicious recipe. Plus, your home will smell oh-so-amazing when you brown the butter.
For the filling – Combine melted butter, cinnamon, and sugar.
How To Make Cinnamon Swirl Bread
- In a large bowl, add flour and make a well in the middle of the flour.
- Add the active yeast and sugar to the center of the flour well.
- Add warm water (110 F is the ideal temperature, aim for water no warmer than you might make a baby bottle)
- Don’t stir YET!
- Let the instant yeast bloom for 15 minutes. The liquid will be foamy when it is ready!
- Add melted butter and salt and stir until well combined with no visible dry flour.
- The dough will be sticky and shaggy.
- Combine the filling ingredients of melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- In the center of the dough, drop in the filling.
- Lightly tuck the edges of the dough around the filling.
- Leave the dough on the countertop in a warm place, covered with a dishtowel or plastic wrap overnight.
- When you are ready to bake the bread, preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Butter the inside of a Dutch oven and pop it in the oven to heat. Allow the prepared loaf pan to bake, with no dough for 30 minutes.
- Carefully remove the Dutch oven and place dough into the Dutch oven. Spread it around carefully with a mixing spoon, so the dough is evenly distributed in the Dutch oven. Keep in mind it is HOT!
- Reduce the heat of the oven to 390 degrees.
- Bake the bread covered at 390 for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10 minutes to let the crust brown.
- Allow the bread to rest in the Dutch oven for 10 minutes before carefully removing it to place on a wire rack.
- Slice and butter.

How To Store Cinnamon Swirl Bread
Leftover cinnamon bread should be stored in an airtight container and will last for up to 3 days. Bread that is slightly stale can easily be used to make the best French toast!

Can I Freeze this Cinnamon Bread?
You can easily freeze this bread to use when convenient. Once the bread is fully baked and cooled down, wrap it in plastic wrap to keep it fresh. The frozen Cinnamon Swirl Bread is good to use for 3 months. I highly recommend putting a use-by-date label on the bread to not mix the dates. Although you can stretch the date to 4-5 months, as with anything baked, the sooner you consume it, the fresher it will taste.
Thaw it before using it by leaving it overnight on the counter or in the fridge even. Do not unwrap the bread before thawing. Let it thaw with the wrap to retain the moisture.
What else can I add to this quick bread?
Add raisins to the flour mixture to make cinnamon raisin bread. Chocolate chips can also be added to bread dough or the top of the bread for added decadence.

Adding the bread dough to a heated pan helps the bread form an outer crust and set it shape. This will help the bread to retain its shape while rising.
What can I do if the top of my bread browns quickly?
Cover the top of the pan with aluminum foil to prevent the top of the bread from browning too much. You can then remove the foil in the last few minutes of baking. You want the top of the loaf to be golden brown but not too dark!
