How to Select the Perfect Graduation Invitation

This post is sponsored by Basic Invite. As always, I only work with brands I use and love. Thank you for helping me support them.

I can’t believe it’s graduation season again! While I won’t admit how long it’s been since I graduated, we do have several friends and family members graduating this year. I remember when it was time for me to select graduation invites (years ago), there weren’t a ton of selections. It was really the basic invites that we were given by the school or a handwritten invite purchased from a store. Neither was very pretty or something that family and friends could use as a keepsake. Thankfully, things have changed a great deal since then! I’m so excited to be partnering with Basic Invite today to help you select the perfect graduation invitation.

Think About Your Audience

Who will you be sending senior graduation invitations to? Will it be mainly friends? Co-workers of parents? Close family that you see weekly? Family that you see maybe once or twice a year? Identifying your audience is important in selecting the perfect invitation. For people that you aren’t as close to, a more formal invitation to a graduation party might be more appropriate. Family and close friends? A photo announcement is the perfect keepsake!

Pick Your Colors

Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. Once you select a design you can change the color of each element on the card to over 180 different color options so you can make sure the card is exactly how you want it down to the littlest detail. I really wish this was available when I graduated! Whether you want to showcase your school’s colors or maybe just your grad’s favorite colors, a carefully picked color theme is a great way to create a beautiful invitation.

Show Off

Where are you going after graduation? A new job? A university? What have you been doing the past few years? Sports? Volunteer work? Selecting an invitation that captures your personality is a great way to bring your family and friends up to speed on your life.

Once you’ve selected the perfect invitation or college graduation announcement, Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers the ability to order a printed sample of their actual invitation so you can see exactly how it will print as well as the paper quality before you ever have to place their final order. They also offer free address collection service and over 40 colors of envelopes!

I am very impressed with the service that Basic Invite offers, not only for graduation invitations, but invitations and stationary for all occasions! We will certainly be using them for upcoming parties and our little one’s next birthday!

PS-Don’t forget the thank you notes!

It looks like they have a really nice selection of invitations. I don’t have any graduates this year, but will keep them in mind for when I do 🙂

  2. Oh gosh how intense now having graduation invites and thank you cards! Definitely not something I had when I graduated! It’s good though to acknowledge that achievement and we should do more things like that!

These are great ideas…when I graduated from college, the invites were provided by the university…these custom invites are a great idea! 🙂

  4. I love how now the invitations are so personal. When I graduated what feels like 100 years ago everybody had the same exact ones. Now you can really show your creativity which is great!

  5. Tereza

There are so pretty! I wish made more fuss about my graduation. I just went there, got my diploma and went home! We didn’t even go dinner or anything haha x

  6. Angela

These are all great tips! It will be a while before I need to pick out graduation invitations, but I could apply this to other invites as well!!

  7. These invitations look great! I see endless possibilities for any occasion. They looks tasteful, modern, and of great quality – everything you’ll want to set the tone for a great party. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I have always preferred the classier, traditional graduation announcements. These personalized ones are much better, though. My daughter graduated last year. I wish I had known of these then.

  9. I like these templates!! I have quite a while before I have to worry about graduations lol, but I can’t wait to do all of the fun planning aspects such as the invites!!
