Chocolate Mickey Waffles

Hey Disney foodie! There is no need to go to the Disney parks for Mickey waffles! You can make delicious mickey waffles in the comfort of your own home.

The waffles are so simple to make and only use a handful of ingredients. I recommend making more than needed so that you can toss them in the freezer and pop them in the toaster when you’re craving something chocolatey.

This Disney recipe is great to make for sleepovers and entertaining. Put out a spread of toppings like strawberries, bananas, and whipped cream, and let your kiddos decorate their Mickey Mouse! If you’re looking for a holiday Disney treat, try out my Disney Halloween Recipe for Mickey Oreo Pops!

Can I use pancake mix for this recipe?

I recommend using cake mix because pancake mix gets a little runny and can overflow your waffle maker. If you only have pancake mix, that is totally fine!

Just be sure not to overfill your waffle maker. You can also add a dash of vanilla extract for more flavor!

Can I freeze my Chocolate Mickey Waffles?

Yes! One of my favorite things about this a great recipe is that you can prepare waffles and keep them on hand in your freezer. To freeze, keep your chocolate mickey waffles on the counter until they cool to room temperature.

Then, you can place them in a freezer-safe Ziploc or airtight container, and they will keep for two to three months.

What should I do with leftovers?

If you have leftovers, you can store them on the counter in an airtight container, or you can toss them in a Ziplock baggie and put them in the refrigerator for around three days.

Keep in mind they will get soft if you store them in the fridge overnight.

To reheat, put them in the toaster so they will be crisp.

What should I eat with Mickey Mouse Waffles?

You can eat Chocolate Mickey Waffles for breakfast, brunch, or even dessert! You can serve your waffles with maple syrup and strawberries for breakfast or add ice cream on the side and enjoy this recipe as a delicious sweet treat.

You can also pair it with bacon, sausage, eggs or fruit for the perfect Walt Disney World breakfast!

What waffle makers get the perfect Mickey shape?

There are many different waffle makers to choose from, but I used the Disney Mickey Mouse Double Flip Waffle Maker for this recipe. I chose this one because it makes three different mini Mickey waffles at a time. It also flips, which I love. This is just more convenient for my family.

You can also use the Disney Mickey Mouse Waffle Maker, which allows you to make a simple Mickey Waffle at a time. I can’t leave out Minnie! The Disney Minnie Mouse Waffle Maker would be a great option if your family is full of girls! Any of these would be the perfect gift for your fellow Disney fans!

Ingredients for Chocolate Mickey Waffles:

Boxed Chocolate Cake Mix – I recommend using a regular boxed cake mix, not one with pudding or chocolate syrup, which may cause the waffle to not cook properly.

Plus Ingredients Called for on the Box – Most boxed cake mixes need oil (vegetable or canola), water, and eggs.

How to Make the Perfect Mickey Waffles:

Preheat your mickey waffle iron.

In a large bowl, prepare the cake mix according to the package directions. I recommend using a hand mixer!

Once the iron is preheated, spray with cooking spray and portion out about 1/2 cup of cake batter into the iron.

Cook your Chocolate Mickey Waffles for 4 minutes or until the waffle iron indicator lights tell you that your waffle is done.

Makes eight golden brown Mickey waffles.
