When Life Gives You A Monday…

Oh, Monday. Where do we start? When I was working full-time, outside of the home, I dreaded Monday.

Wouldn’t that be nice! When I decided to begin working from home, I thought…well, I won’t dread Mondays anymore! When life Gives YouA Monday...

In a way, that is true. I love working from home and I love what I do. However…we all have Mondays, don’t we?

We all have those days where everything goes wrong from the start.

We all have those days that go like a bad country song. Your car broke down, you got in a fight with your spouse, the dog ran off…

Mondays don’t always happen on just Monday though. They can happen any day of the week, for some of us, they happen every day some weeks.

Recently, I had a “Monday”. I slept in way too late, the baby woke me up screaming bloody murder, I jumped out of bed, rammed my leg into the corner of the bench at the end of our bed (still have a bruise from that one!), the baby had a blowout diaper, my husband drank all of the coffee before he left for work, I didn’t have any towels that were clean, the dogs wouldn’t listen…I even ran my car into the garage. Yep…sadly, that is the second time that has happened. Go ahead, you can laugh.

We all have those days, don’t we? Our spouse is in a bad mood, the baby is teething, the kids ‘forgot’ about that last minute project that is due tomorrow and requires supplies from the store across town,  the car won’t start, you ripped your pants…anything that could happen…has happened.

So, what do we do with those “Mondays”? I know I tend to get frustrated.

[dropshadowbox align=”none” effect=”lifted-both” width=”auto” height=”” background_color=”#ffffff” border_width=”1″ border_color=”#dddddd” ]Sometimes I let the smallest thing, ruin the entire day. [/dropshadowbox]

Sometimes, I let spilled milk ruin my day. (Even though, spilling breast milk should certainly ruin your day ha!)

Sometimes, I let a harsh word from someone ruin my day. I don’t consider that maybe they are having a Monday of their own.

Sometimes, I let lack of sleep or coffee ruin my day.

Sometimes, I let a messy house or undone laundry ruin my day.

Sometimes, there are ‘bigger Mondays’. Sometimes you get an unwanted diagnosis, sometimes you lose a loved one, sometimes your boss tells you the company is downsizing, sometimes your child is sick, sometimes you wonder how you will make ends meet.

We all have these days. We all have days where the smallest thing can sour our mood or the biggest thing than shatter our world. What do we do with these days?

I know that I don’t do what I should most times. I pout. I whine.

I am trying to do better at not being negative in certain situations. I am trying to learn to be joyful, no matter the circumstances. I am trying to learn to laugh…that sometimes it’s funny when you have poop smeared down you and the baby is screaming. Things aren’t always that serious…

Sometimes, they are though. I have been around people who have been through really difficult times lately, and have even gone through some of them personally. We still have to try and laugh through these times. Sure, we can cry and be sad, or even angry about certain situations…but, things sure are better when you try to find the joy in them!

I pray that you find joy today in whatever circumstances you are facing.

I actually don't hate Mondays as much as I used to! lol I'm currently on maternity leave until September so I only need to get up early to get my son ready for school and I can get another hour or two of sleep before my daughter wakes up!

I love Mondays! It's just another grateful day to be alive for me. But I can see your parallels. Very nice article.

I don't have problem now with Mondays but I did back in high school when I had to wake very early.

I love Monday because it is the beginning of the week for me. The kids can go to school. Though my son always complain that he has a headache every Monday.
