I have a secret to tell you: I LOVE Italian food. It’s my favorite cuisine and I could eat it everyday (although, my hips probably wouldn’t appreciate that). However, I have found in the past few years that it’s difficult to find authentic Italian cuisine that doesn’t taste like it was microwaved or has an overpowering garlic flavor to each dish. When my parents suggested on our recent trip that we visit Maggiano’s: Little Italy during one of our visits to Charlotte, I was a bit skeptical. Would the food have the same “out of the box” and microwaved taste that most other Italian restaurants seem to have these days?
I was so pleasantly surprised with our experience! First, the location is one of my favorite places in Charlotte: Southpark Mall. The Southpark area is a ‘higher end’ area and I love visiting the mall when we are in the area. The service is amazing from the time you walk in the door. You are greeted by the friendly staff and if you have to wait, the bartender asks you if you would like something to drink while you wait. He even offered us water for my little one while we waited- MAJOR points in this momma’s book!
Once we were seated, our server was amazing. She was not only attentive, she anticipated our needs before we had them. Our glasses were always full and she was so attentive with my little one. Excellent service is one of my biggest ‘must haves’ anytime we eat out, so I was so excited about the excellent service we received at Maggiano’s. For this reason alone, we will certainly be returning next time we are in Charlotte.
Now, for the biggest test of our experience: how was the food? In one word: AMAZING. I truly cannot say enough good things about the food at Maggiano’s. Not only was the experience and service wonderful, the food was so delicious. I ordered the Alfredo with Chicken and an Apple Crostada for dessert. Both of them were fresh, delicious and some of the best food I have had in a really long time! I highly recommend visiting Maggiano’s Little Italy anytime you are near one of their locations. You won’t regret it!
