I am so glad that we have had warmer weather the past few weeks. We love grilling out when it’s warmer, but unfortunately there’s a small window where we live for when we can grill out each year. It’s either too cold or so hot and humid that you are miserable standing over a grill outside. Over the years, we have spent a lot of time grilling various meats and I’ll be the first to admit: I didn’t always know what I was doing when it came to grilling. Sometimes the meat would be perfect, other times I would burn it so bad we couldn’t even eat it. Today, I’m excited to share a few of my tips to grill any meat flawlessly.
Marinate Overnight (if possible).
Marinating meat is key to letting all of the flavors well.. marinate in the meat. If you can’t let your meat marinate overnight, put it in the marinade as soon as possible and stick it in your refrigerator. I’ve found that putting my meat and marinade in a plastic bag and pressing out all of the air allows the meat to soak up the flavors even more. Personally, we love Moore’s Marinades and Sauces!
Bring Your Meat to Room Temperature.
Don’t take your meat straight from the refrigerator and throw it on the grill. Allow it to sit out and ‘warm up’ for at least 30 minutes. This will help to prevent your meat from burning when you grill it.
Dry The Meat Off.
I like to take a paper towel and use my tongs to pat the meat with the towel. This dries any excess juice and water off of the meat but doesn’t take the marinade off. This is an important step to take before grilling. Your meat won’t stick to the grill as much and it prevents it from overcooking quickly.
Low and slow.
Some people think that to grill you have to turn the heat as high as it will go and cook the meat quickly. Not true! I prefer to use a lower temperature on our grill and let the meat cook slowly. This not only keeps it tender but it also prevents you from getting the outside burnt and the inside not cooked all the way through.
Hamilton Beach Indoor Searing Grill.
In addition to the tips above, we use our Hamilton Beach Indoor Searing Grill often for grilling. On those really hot summer days, or days that I want to fix a quick and easy grilled meat, I use our indoor searing grill. The grill has so many features that take the guesswork out of grilling including:
- A ‘ready’ light to let you know when the grill is the appropriate temperature
- An easy to read and control temperature knob
- A removable hood and drip tray (which are both dishwasher safe!)
Recently, I used our searing grill to cook turkey breast and it was the most delicious turkey I have ever had. My husband agrees! I’m convinced that using our indoor searing grill along with these tips, were the reason why the meat was cooked to perfection, tender and mouthwatering. If you are ready to grill this summer, head over to Wal-Mart to purchase your own Hamilton Beach Indoor Searing Grill, or enter below for a chance to win one of your own!

I had a Jenn Air indoor grill years ago, it was an actual huge, freestanding appliance though. This would be wonderful to have, I really miss the ability to get that grilled flavor during the cold months here.
I love to grill and would love to be able to grill indoors especially during inclement weather. My favorite thing to grill is salmon or shrimp kabobs.
