Could anyone else use a beach trip? Even though we just returned from one a few weeks ago, I am ready to head back to the sun and sand! We have had crazy weather recently and it has left me dreaming of the cool beach breeze that we left in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. Now that you know all about our trip to Orlando with Allegiant Air and our wonderful stay in Orlando, it’s time to talk about our time in Ft. Myers. It was so relaxing!
The drive from Orlando to Ft. Myers is so pretty and peaceful! When we started to see palm trees, I knew we were almost in paradise! To get to Ft. Myers Beach, we crossed a huge bridge with gorgeous water views.
As soon as we were over the bridge, we entered the cutest little beach town complete with it’s own “Times Square” as the locals call it-an area filled with shops, restaurants, ice cream stops and even a fishing pier. We spent some time at the Ft. Myers Beach pier and each night we were there, a local band was playing live music. When you envision a little beach town, Ft. Myers Beach is truly just that.
Tip: If you head to the pier or “Times Square”, there is a public parking lot adjacent to the pier, it’s a great location for parking and walking around the area.
After arriving into town, we headed straight for our hotel: Diamondhead Beach Resort. Our GPS took us straight there and immediately we were greeted by friendly staff members who showed us where to check-in. The clerk at the front desk was so helpful, she even recommended seafood restaurants and gave us information about local beach ordinances!
After check in, we were escorted to our room by a bellman who also helped with our luggage. He was so kind and friendly and gave us pointers about fishing and things to do in the area. When we entered our room we felt like we were in our home away from home. The room was gorgeous! Equipped with a mini-kitchen, large bathroom, living space, amazing screened-in balcony (that had the two most comfortable lounge chairs I’ve ever seen at a hotel) and spacious bedroom-we didn’t feel like we were in a hotel room, but in our own beach paradise!
Tip: Spend time on your oceanfront balcony! The screened in area is great if you have little ones that want to play outside or if you just want to relax and take in the beach sights and sounds without being in the sand and sun.
I honestly have zero complaints about the room-we both kept saying how great Diamondhead Beach Resort would be not only for a couple’s getaway but also for a family getaway! In addition to the amazing room, we spent a lot of time exploring the resort and it was the perfect beach getaway! We enjoyed breakfast at Chloe’s, the on-site restaurant and the food was delicious. My hubby loved the breakfast tacos so much he ate them two mornings in a row.
Tip: If you can, eat breakfast outside, the view is to die for!
One of our favorite things to do at the resort was visit Cabañas Beach Bar & Grille. The food and drinks are both equally decadent. Personally, I loved their wings and also their chicken salad! The service was wonderful too, which is sometimes difficult to find when you are on vacation.
Tip: If you want a spot to watch the sunset, head to Cabañas!
We spent most of our time in Ft. Myers on the beach- of course! One of my favorite amenities at Diamondhead resort was the fact that you could walk right out on the sand and for a small fee, rent your own private ‘cabana’ comprised of two chairs and an umbrella for the day from Holiday Water Sports. If you are the more adventurous type, the even offer Parasailing, Dolphin Wave Runner Tours and much more -all a few steps from your room! I was so sad that we weren’t able to experience the Dolphin Wave Runner Tour (my back was acting up so we had to forgo it this time-but we will be back!).
In addition to the many wonderful amenities we experienced at the resort, they also have a gorgeous pool, on-site laundry, full-service spa, various recreation activities and much more! I cannot wait to go back to Diamondhead Beach Resort- it really is paradise!
Absolutely love Ft. Myers….I used to live in Naples not far from there!

This makes me miss living in Naples which isn’t too far from Fort Myers. Looks like you had a great vacation!
