Family Getaway to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Thank you to Margaritaville Island Hotel, St. Somewhere Spa, The Island, Ripley’s Aquarium, The Old Mill and the Dixie Stampede for sponsoring this trip. As always, I only work with brands I love.

We had the BEST time in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee recently. The Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area is only about an hour and a half from our house-which is awesome. Recently, as most of you know, the area was devastated by tragic wildfires. When we heard of the news, our hearts broke-this happened right in our back yard to one of our favorite places in the world! We have been anxious to visit since the wildfires to show our support for the businesses and residents in the area-after all, one of the best ways to help now to is to continue to visit and shop at local businesses in the area.

We visit several times a year, and each time we visit, I fall even more in love with the area. Our most recent trip was a couple of weeks after the holidays. After the busyness of the holidays, we knew that we needed a few days as a family to unwind.

By now, you all know how much I love the Margaritavaille Island Hotel and how amazing our last experience there was. Last time we visited, my hubby had to work so he wasn’t able to go with us. I have been talking about how great the hotel is for months now, so we decided to head back. It was even better than I remembered!

As soon as you arrive, you are greeted by the friendly valet staff-fully dressed in their shorts and ‘hula shirts’. You feel like you have truly arrived in Margaritaville! The staff was eager to help us unload and get settled into our room-which was so nice since  were juggling a 1 year old and all of the gear that comes with traveling with a toddler. The last time we visited, we had a river view room and it was so relaxing and peaceful. This time-we wanted to see what the Village View rooms were like. Let me tell you, it was so much fun! We were able to sit on our balcony each evening and watch people as they strolled through the Island. The best part was, the Christmas lights were still up for Winterfest and we had a gorgeous view from our room!

As always, the bed in the room is heavenly. The room itself was so inviting and romantic (is that even possible while traveling with a toddler)? I loved that the room had a separate sitting area with a pull out sofa. During the night, we put our little one in his pack and play in the sitting area and we were able to stay up late and watch TV without worrying if we were disturbing him. Our room even had a gorgeous fireplace and frozen concoction maker-after all, who could leave Margaritaville without a margarita?

I am even more impressed with Margaritaville Island Hotel in Pigeon Forge this time than I was last time. They do not disappoint! From the valet staff to the coffee shop staff, everyone was so kind to us and treated us like we were the only guests they had. The hotel is clean, beautiful and inviting. I cannot WAIT to go back!

I am also excited to share with you a special deal that they have right now-it’s a great deal and you get to experience the Dixie Stampede Dinner Show also (more about that later!)

St. Somewhere Spa: The Most Relaxing Place in Pigeon Forge

During our visit this time, I was able to go back to the St. Somewhere Spa at Margaritaville Island Hotel. I shared with you last time how amazing my massage was and this time- I hate to keep saying it-but it was even better! I am bad about carrying my stress in my shoulders and neck and this holiday season…I think it all gathered there. Thankfully, the massage at St. Somewhere Spa was just what this momma needed to unwind and relax. It was the perfect way to kick off an amazing weekend!

The Old Mill Restaurant

Friday evening we had the pleasure of going to dinner at The Old Mill Restaurant. I have heard amazing things about The Old Mill over the years, but we have never had the chance to visit. We were in for a treat! The food was so delicious! First, they start you out with the most delicious corn chowder and corn fritters (which our little one LOVED), then you get to chose from a wide variety of delicious food. After that, you get to pick from some of the best desserts on the planet. I highly recommend eating at the Old Mill Restaurant while you are in Pigeon Forge!

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies

Saturday we headed into Gatlinburg to visit Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. My hubby and I have visited a few times before, but our little one has never been. My parents also drove down for the day and met us. Our little one was SO excited though the entire experience! It is really one of my favorite places to visit-I could spend days in there and never get bored. They have so many different species and exhibits. Our little one really loved the penguins  and he had the best time just watching them.

Right now, they also have a Pearl Harbor Exhibit, which is truly amazing! It was one of my favorite parts of the experience.

If you are visiting the Gatlinburg area, I highly recommend visiting Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies! You won’t be disappointed!

The Island Wheel

Last time I was in Pigeon Forge, we didn’t get the chance to the The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. I was so disappointed! This time, we made sure to take the opportunity to ride the Wheel. It was beautiful! I admit-I am a little scared of heights-so at first, I was nervous. However, after I got more comfortable and realized how beautiful the view was-it was an amazing experience!

Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction

Saturday evening we had the pleasure of eating dinner at Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede. I have been once before…years ago…and I was so excited to take our little one. The show was absolutely wonderful! I was so amazed at the effects and the technique of the riders. Dinner was absolutely delicious and our server was so attentive, making sure we had exactly what we needed. The show ran a little past our little one’s bedtime and I was concerned about how he would handle being out that late. He did amazing! He watched every minute of the show, clapping along and only getting fussy when the horses went away. It was a great way to end a perfect weekend and we can’t wait to return to Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede!

We truly had the best weekend in Pigeon forge/Gatlinburg! If you haven’t visited the area, or even if you have-I highly recommend planning a trip to the area. The residents need your support now, more than ever…and I can promise you will have an unforgettable getaway!!
