Essentials for Traveling With a Toddler

Thank you to Timi and Leslie for sponsoring this post. As always, I only work with brands I use and love.

If you read my post yesterday, you know we recently spent the weekend in Pigeon Forge with our little one. It was a blast! Let me tell you though, traveling with a toddler is NO joke! I traveled with him a lot when he was a baby, but during the holidays we didn’t travel much. Now that he’s more mobile and active, it seems like we have to take even MORE stuff with us when we travel.  Honestly, I had no idea what to pack, so I packed everything. We didn’t need half of it (imagine that), but I did get a good handle on what is necessary when traveling with a toddler. I hope this list makes traveling a little easier for you!

A Place for Them to Sleep

Most hotels will provide you with a crib or other place for your little one to sleep. We decided to take his Chicco portable play yard because he is so comfortable in it. It folds easily and was easy to transport. I certainly plan to take it next time we travel!

Timi and Leslie Diaper Bag

Can we just take a moment and look at this gorgeous bag? It is even more gorgeous in person! This is the Charlie Diaper Bag from Timi and Leslie and it is truly my #1 travel essential. Not only is it perfect for day trips, trips to the grocery store and yes…weekend trips, but it comes with so many accessories that you can cut down on half of what you would normally pack, simply by taking this bag! The bag comes with:

  • 1 clutch for mom’s essentials – with credit card slots and zippered pocket
  • 1 pair of stroller straps and 1 detachable/adjustable shoulder strap
  • 1 insulated bottle tote, 1 zippered clothes sac
  • 1 changing mat with pocket for diapers/wipes

I do have to say, the clutch is probably my favorite feature of the bag (other than the bag itself, which is so gorgeous). The clutch is perfect for when I need to run out without our little one, or if I just want to grab it out of the bag and take him in the store real quick-I don’t have to tote along bottles, diapers and everything else that is in the bag. As you can see from my pictures below, it holds A LOT, which is a must have for any toddler mom. Not only do they carry this gorgeous bag, but they have so many others that you will never run out of choices! I already have my eye on one for spring! I highly recommend Timi and Leslie bags, they are perfect for any mom!!

Of course, we know this-diapers, wipes, bottles/sippy cups, clothes, etc. are essential for traveling with your toddler.

Right after we returned home from this trip, our little one got sick. I thought the other day “what would I have done if he had gotten sick while we were traveling?”. Well, I would have had to go out and purchase EVERYTHING – thermometer, Tylenol, etc. That’s crazy! I will remember to pack these things next time we travel.

I try to take hand sanitizer with us wherever we are. I also like to travel with a pump bottle for the hotel room- it’s perfect for late night diaper changes and feedings.

What essentials would you add to the list?

I love that bag. My essentials have changed over time. Now that my son is three his needs have changed but for the most part a change of clothes, snacks, movies and something to entertain him is what he needs is his essentials.

Hey that bag has my name lol... I love big bags because I always carry my life in them and I don't have kids yet. I can't even imagine how heavy my bag will get when I do have kids. These all look like very important essential to carry with you when traveling because you just never know and it's best to be prepared.

Awesome post :-) Leslie xoxo

How awesome is that stylish diaper bag. I love that it doesn't look anywhere near your typical diaper bag! It would be awesome to travel using this.
