Yellow Cake Mix: Use any brand of yellow cake mix that you have at home or like to buy from the store, such as Pillsbury or Duncan Hines. White cake mix or spice cake mix can be used in this box cake mix recipe. I personally love using the Aldi brand of cake mix when I make dump cake recipes.

Apple Pie Filling: You’ll need two 20 oz. cans of apple pie filling for this recipe. Homemade apple pie filling can also be made with fresh apples for this easy apple dump cake recipe.

Butter: Use one stick of butter cut into sliced pieces for this dump cake. Melted butter can be drizzled over the dry cake mix for a more even distribution. I prefer unsalted butter for this recipe.

Caramel Baking Bits: The caramel baking bits enhance the taste of this apple pie dump cake, making it taste more like a caramel apple. You can choose to leave these out if you prefer to make just an apple dump cake.
