I just completed my second trimester with baby number two! It’s hard to believe we are in the ‘final stretch’ of this pregnancy. Last pregnancy, I stressed myself out a bit with doing all of the things as early as possible. This time, I’ve been a bit more laid back and have tried to pace myself with getting things done. If you are in or approaching your second trimester, here are 15 things you must do – trust me, they’ll keep you sane as you enter your third trimester!
Start planning your maternity leave and talk to your employer about your options
Research and select a maternity/newborn photographer. If your baby is going to be born in fall or summer like ours, make sure you book your photographer early, as you may be competing with weddings, etc.
Take weekly belly photos!
If you don’t have a pediatrician, start researching local ones and calling to see if they are accepting new patients.
Decide on a date for your baby shower
Start a guest list for your baby shower
Plan a ‘babymoon’ with your significant other.
Pamper yourself a bit – get a pedicure, manicure or prenatal massage
Make sure you continue to take your prenatal vitamins
Select a nursery theme and decor, once you know the gender (if you are finding out the gender, that is!)
Start a list of names that you like and discuss with your significant other
Start thinking about childcare and interviewing providers (they often have a long waiting list)
Make a list of freezer meals to prep during your third trimester
Make a list of contacts for after the baby is born. Share a list with important people, i.e. – significant other will contact his parents, etc.
Start shopping for maternity clothes! Personally, my current favorite maternity piece is this beautiful dress from Pink Blush! Make sure you scroll below to enter to win a $75 gift card from Pink Blush!
What other ‘must do’s’ would you add to the list?
