This post is sponsored by Allegiant Air. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you’ve been following me on social media, you know that we recently spent a week in Florida. Just the two of us. No baby. It was certainly an adventure! When we started planning the trip, we were approximately 6 months away from the trip so I kept saying “it will be easier to leave him when the trip gets closer”. It wasn’t. I cried. My husband cried. But, we survived and we had a wonderful time! Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing more details about our trip, but I want to share with you today about one of the best parts of our trip: flying with Allegiant Air.
When we began researching destinations for our 5 year anniversary trip, we weren’t really sure where to start or where we wanted to go. We tossed around the idea of Grand Cayman or another tropical island, but knew we didn’t really want to travel that far away from our son. Living in a small town in East Tennessee, we also don’t have a ton of non-stop destination choices from our local airport. I had heard great things about Allegiant Air, but we had never flown with them. When I started researching destinations from our area, I found out they fly to Florida. Win! We went on a cruise for our honeymoon that sailed out of Tampa, so Florida does hold a special place in our hearts. I also have been to Florida numerous times with my family and have always loved it. Once we researched the rates that Allegiant was offering, along with the reviews they had from customers, we knew our decision was made.
When we arrived at the ticket counter in the airport to depart, I had already checked us in online and printed our boarding passes. The gentleman at the counter took our luggage and made sure we were all set. After he sent our luggage back, I realized we didn’t have identification on the bags (ok, I know, mom brain). He told me that each luggage tag that they printed had our names, destination and information on them so that in the unlikely event that they were lost-they would be easily traceable to us. Win!
The boarding process was smooth and easy, and while other flights around us from other airlines were cancelling-our flight was on time! When we boarded the plane, the flight attendants were all amazing. They even added a bit of humor to the normal safety briefing before the flight. I loved this because in a situation that can be stressful for people who have anxiety about flying, they made them laugh. During the flight, we were offered a large selection of snacks and drinks for purchase. The prices were very reasonable for the items and we took advantage of them both flying to Orlando and back home. The flight was great and we even arrived in Orlando early!
A few of my favorite things about Allegiant Air are:
Their customer service is TOP NOTCH! We didn’t encounter a single employee of Allegiant that wasn’t kind, friendly and happy. They all made us feel welcome and like they were there to help with anything we needed. We watched them assist several passengers, including an elderly lady who was a bit confused and a father flying solo with a toddler who was having a slight meltdown. Each situation was handled with kindness, compassion and professionalism.
The convenience they offer. I love that we were able to have our boarding passes on our phone using the Allegiant app and not have to worry about finding a printer at our hotel. They also offered a specific line for checking baggage in Orlando so we didn’t have to wait in line behind those who needed to check in or get printed boarding passes.
They approach flying and travel with the same attitude our family does: fun and focused. Allegiant is focused on doing their job: getting you to your destination safe and on time. However, they also approach it with a bit of humor and happiness. From the small jokes during the safety briefing to welcoming us home when we landed back in Tennessee. The small touches really do make the difference.
They offer a customizable travel experience. Instead of building the fees of 2 checked bags per person into your ticket fees, you can select how many bags you check or carry on. Want to board early? You can select that as well. Need a seat with more leg or elbow room? There’s an option for that as well. Watching your budget? They are the way to go! All of these options are available at Allegiant so that you can customize your trip to fit your specific needs.
I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Allegiant Air. I was nervous about flying with an airline we have never flown on before, but I am so highly impressed. We didn’t have one single bad experience or bad thing to say about Allegiant, their employees and our entire experience. I cannot wait to fly with them again soon and I hope that you will consider them for your next trip!
