I am usually a very organized person. I am what you call a ‘type A’ personality. However, when it comes to packing for a trip…I am not organized at all. I have been known to call myself the ‘bag lady’ when we travel-I tend to throw each and every thing we could possibly need on the trip in a bunch of random tote bags and stuff them in the car. It’s bad, ya’ll. It is not efficient…at all. I have tried to reel my packing chaos in a bit and become more organized when we travel. It just makes sense, it makes arriving at our destination better and less stressful.
Today I am sharing 3 tips for Packing Your Luggage Like a Pro.
Make a List. Lists are your friend, especially when it comes to travel and packing your luggage. List everything you think you may possibly need on your trip. Go through that list a few times and try to eliminate things you may not need- for example: your child will not need his winter coat during a trip to North Carolina in July. (you can’t make this stuff up)
Categorize. If you are taking a trip to the beach, for example, try to categorize your items that you will need for a day at the beach in one small bag that you can put into a larger bag. Think: sunscreen, hat, swim suit, etc. Place these items in a smaller bag that you can place into your luggage. The same goes for cosmetics. I love the CalPak Packing Cubes for this-they are perfect to categorize and organize your items within your luggage.
Select Your Luggage Carefully. I’ve had cheap luggage before, you know…the kind you buy at big box stores for $19.99. It’s not worth it. Repeat: You get what you pay for when it comes to luggage. I’ve had wheels break off of luggage in airports, I’ve had zippers get stuck. It’s frustrating. As I said before, recently, I’ve been so unorganized when it comes to packing that I’ve just thrown everything in a million tote bags and went on my merry way. That is NOT the way to pack like a pro, or keep your sanity while traveling. CalPak Luggage is amazing and it keeps me from losing my sanity (among other things) during our travels. It’s lightweight enough that I can handle it myself if I am traveling alone, but it’s also durable and high quality that I don’t have to worry about it getting thrown around or stuck under a million pieces of baby gear. I chose the Verdugo 2-Piece Set in Champagne and let me tell you…it’s gorgeous! Not only do I recommend you get yourself a set of CalPak Luggage, it would also make a great gift for anyone on your list this Christmas!!
